The Church of Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri was designed and built by architect Vasari in the latter half of the 16th Century. The interior has a stunning wooden painted ceiling as well as a beautifully executed Baroque high altar. There is a powerful reminder of the ancient knights who spent time here as two side wings of the church were once the changing rooms of the knights who fought with the Saracens. Here their war trophies decorate the walls.
