Santa Maria Donnaregina is a combination of two churches as instructed by Maria of Hungary in 1293. Later divided again in the 20th Century, the recurring theme throughout the building is ‘still life’. The canvasses of Luca Giordano in the presbytery and the frescoes by Francesco Solimena are of particular note. The queen’s tomb is to the left of the entrance, and is a masterpiece of Tino di Camaino, who portrayed her many children on the sarcophagus. Outside the church, a staircase to the left leads to the nuns’ choir which is richly decorated with 14th Century frescoes.
