Two bridges once connected the church of San Nicola to the royal palace but only one remains today. The church was constructed during the 13th Century and some of he earliest parts are still visible including the bell tower and the lower part of the façade. The bell tower has an unusual and marked inclination. Inside are valuable art works including some 14th Century sculptures like the wooden statue of the ’Madonna with Child’ by Nicola Pisano and the crucifix by Giovanni Pisano.
