The church of San Francesco was founded in 1211; building continued between 1265 and 1270 and the work was completed in the early 14th Century. The façade of this huge church is 1603. Unusually, the bell tower sits on two sides of the nave rather than on the ground, and is supported by huge stones. Inside, the church has a single nave and six chapels. There are a number of valuable paintings and sculptures which date from the 13th, 14th, and 17th centuries.
