The Church of San Francesco di Paola was constructed by the wish of Ferdinando I in 1817 as an offering of thanks for the re-conquest of his lands after 10 years of French rule. Pietro Bianchi, who re-styled the Neo-gothic building on the Roman Pantheon, undertook the work. Inside you can see statues and paintings from the same period and the high altar dating from the 17th Century. The Doric hemicycle was built by the order of Joachim Murat in 1810 and extends from the church and takes in half the piazza.
