The corner stone of San Lorenzo was laid in 1345 but because of the Black Death work didn’t continue until a decade later. Part of the façade is faced in pink and white marble and the building has a huge Gothic doorway. Inside, visitors can see the curious ‘Virgin’s wedding ring’ which is said to change colour with the wearer. Two noteworthy works here are: ‘Descent from the Cross’ by Federico Barocci, and ‘Enthroned Madonna with Saints’ by Luca Signorelli.
