The Cathedral of Padova was designed by Andrea Valle and was built sometime between the 16th and 18th Century. It is believed that Michelangelo participated in the construction. Beautiful statues by the Tuscan artist Giuliano Vangi adorn the new high altar that was inaugurated in 1997. Inside there are magnificent frescoes from the 14th Century with stories from the book of Genesis, the Apocalypse and from John the Baptist. The baptistery connected to the Cathedral dates back to the 7th century.
