The Cathedral Church of Nicolosi is one of the most important monuments of the town. The original building was destroyed by the eruption of Etna in 1669, but rebuilt in the same place. The exterior is made in a 19th Century style apart from the structure of the bell tower which stands adjacent to the church and is fashioned from lavic stone. The interior has kept many of its original features and some old furnishings. These include the very fine wooden Crucifix which dates back to the 18th Century and a valuable organ which is attributed to Cinquemani.
