The castle in Puegnago sul Garda was built on a small hill in order to defend against Hungarian invasions. The irregularly-shaped walls of this fortress easily adapt to the shape of the slopes of the hill below. It is thought to have been built between the 9th and 10th centuries and the main entrance to the castle was turned into a bell tower sometime in the 19th Century. There are no longer any traces of the dwellings which lay within the main building.
