The castle in Moniga was built in the 10th Century to defend the town against Hungarian raids. The crenellated city walls have four small round watchtowers at the corners and there are three towers at the centre of the walls on the northern, southern and western sides. The castle is still in a good condition and the entrance is in the eastern wall where remains of a drawbridge are still visible. The square keep is now a bell tower.
