The Casa di Riposo per Musicisti Giuseppe Verdi is the creation of Camillo Boito from 1895-1899. The building was originally planned for a pentagonal plot, but new building areas meant a change to the original design. It is constructed in a Neo-Gothic style and shows Boito’s aspiration to create a piece of National architecture. On the same site as the entrance is a crypt containing the tombs of Giuseppe Verdi and Giuseppina Strepponi, with mosaics created by L. Pogliani
