On the outside of Casa Degli Omenoni in Milan, there are six enormous men (omenoni) adorning the façade. This small palace was built in the 16th Century and these figures almost overpower the ornate front of what was at one time the studio home of the sculptor Leone Leoni, who built it for himself in 1565. Depicted beneath the cornice is a lion attacking Calumny – a taste of the creator’s famous humour. Leone Leoni’s wonderful art collection, which included works by Titian and Leonardo’s Codex Atlanticus is now in the Biblioteca Ambrosiano.
