The museum - the art collection of Elisabetta Farnese and other paintings and porcelain - opened in 1957. There are significant works by Luca Signorelli, Sandro Botticelli, del Correggio, Giovanni Bellini, Il Parmigianino, Lorenzo Lotto, Mantegna, Titian and Palma il Vecchio. Other rooms hold paintings by Rubens and Van Dyck. Visitors can see porcelain from the factories of Meissen and Capodimonte, and porcelain and maiolica from the royal factories in Naples, Vienna and Sèvres. The Armoury displays weapons and armour belonging to the Farnese e d’Avalos families.
