Sited behind the Church of S. Ludovico is the old Benedictine convent of San Paolo on the Via Melloni. The small oratory, or Sacello, recently restored to its former glory is believed to date back to the 10th Century. There is an entrance, which is not the original that takes you the rooms belonging to the Abbess; both these rooms are decorated with frescoes by Alessandro Araldi (16th Century) when Giovanna da Piacenza was the Abbess. The frescoes are close to the Roman art period and depict both sacred and secular scenes.
