St Benedict and its bell tower was built in the 14th Century but renovated in the 18th and 19th centuries. It has a sculpted façade in Gothic style and either side of the rose window is a niche containing the statues of St Benedict and his sister, St Scolastica. Part of the chapel in the left-hand nave is thought to have been the house where St Benedict was born. Paintings in the basilica include work by Michelangelo Carducci (1560), and Filippo Napoletano (1621).
