The Baptistery of the Cathedral is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and dates to the end of the 12th Century. It is square in shape with a high round tambour, a cupola and a small apse with a small cupola. When Fina Buzzacarini, the wife of Francesco il Vecchio da Carrara, declared that she wanted to be buried in the baptistery, Giusto de Menabuoi was to decorate the interior with frescos that today is the most spectacular from the 14th Century. There are about 100 scenes from the lives of Saint John, The Holy Mother and Jesus.
