The Archaeological Museum is housed in the Norman-Swabian castle in Mesagne town centre. There are many interesting finds kept here including Bronze-age pottery, Roman finds, and medieval ceramics. There is also a fascinating exhibit of Greek coins which were produced by local mints (Taranto, Metaponto, Sibari and Crotone) and Roman and Medieval coins. Another display has a fully preserved, half-room tomb complete with its accessories which dates to 250 BC. The museum’s highlight is the Lapidarium (epigraphic museum) with tomb slabs and several millstones from the Messapi period.
