The town of Maletto, founded in 1263 by Manfredi Maletto, has several sites of archaeological interest. It was built around a fortified tower which is set on a cliff overlooking the town. Other sites in the area include the Tartarici district, where tombs from the proto-history era have been discovered, the megalithic structures of the Tortorici area, and tombs in the Rocca Calanna area. Maletto is in the Etna Park so also includes naturalistic sites like the Monte la Nave, the Grotta del Gelo with its glacier, and the Grotta del Diavolo.
