San Bernardino da Siena also stayed in this monastery, which was the result of the dispersion of the Observant movement in Abruzzo, during the early years of the 15th Century. The Rule, with regards to poverty in particular, had been made to coincide with the foundation, in 1415, of the monastery of San Giuliano. The monastery is set in a beautiful landscape; the nearby peaks of Monte Pettino are also called Crocetta di San Giuliano, because of the cross affixed to the summit.
