The historic and grand Politeama Greco Theatre in Lecce is situated near the northern part of the castle. It was inaugurated in November 1884 and it became one of the most significant theatres in the region. This is a beautiful building and is now considered to be the artistic home of the city. During its lyric season, visitors can enjoy a number of shows, which are organised and directed by the lyric singer, Katia Ricciarelli.
