The Palazzo Palmieri is situated in a small public square in Lecce and is a somewhat austere looking building. It was constructed during the 16th Century and has later renovation work which dates from the 18th Century. The palace now has a façade with a Baroque look. Discovered in the palace garden here, in an underground area dug into the cliff, was a sepulchre of the Messapian period, which dates back to the 3rd Century BC.
