The ‘Nicola Bernardini’ Province Library was founded by Sigismondo Castromediano in 1863, who also founded the Archaeological Museum. It was the collection of books from the abolished libraries in the convents of the Theatin Fathers, the Reformed Church, and the Liquorini in Francavilla Fontana that were stored in this library. The library has been dedicated to Nicola Bernardini, distinguished man of letters and journalist since 1902. He took care of the collection and increased the number to more than 120,000 books, 486 manuscripts and 435 16th Century books.
