Lanzo is the main centre of the Val d’Intelvi. Many villas were built here after the end of the 19th Century including the remarkable Villa Castelli, and Villa Cirla and Villa Poletti, both built in 1915 in Art Nouveau style. In 1968, the Museum of the Valley was created in nearby Scaria. From Lanzo, you can reach the Belvedere, close to the Swiss border, where there are fabulous views of Lugano, Porlezza and the Valsolda. This is also a popular winter tourist resort, with skiing tracks and climbing facilities.
