The Alviano Lake is situated along the banks of the Tiber. It is an artificial body of water and was originally developed to generate hydroelectricity. Today, the lake forms part of an oasis managed by the World Wide Fund for Nature and is a part of the Parco Fluviale del Tevere. This river park is around 18,025 acres in total and runs from Montemolino down to the Lago di Alviano. It is a haven for wildlife and contains some beautiful scenery.
