The Mother Church of Linguaglossa was built in 1613. Dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, the façade is of lava and sand stone. Inside is a 1728 carved wooden choir depicting episodes from the life of Christ and two beautiful paintings by Olivo Sozzi. Chiesa di S. Egidio, dedicated to the town’s patron saint, was built under the Angevin dynasty and has a Gothic portal. Chiesa dei SS. Vito e Antonio, with its lava stone portal, is 17th Century and the 16th Century Chiesa di S. Francesco di Paola houses a well-known marble statue of the Madonna dell’Oreto, by Gagini.
