The area of Campo Imperatore is sometimes called Little Tibet because of its tracks which afford fabulous views. In winter skiers can enjoy some 15 kilometres of slopes. The plateau is one of the most amazing in Italy – at an altitude of about 1800 metres and is 30 kilometres long and 8 kilometres wide. Here also is Rocca Balascio, a rock much favoured by photographers. The small temple of Santa Maria della Pietà, which is located near the ancient abandoned hamlet, is another must-see.
