The Campo Imperatore Ski Resort was started in the 1950s and is now open all year round. It has some 20 kilometres of slopes, and ski lifts which guarantee an hourly capacity of 4000 people. This is a popular complex which caters for 100,000 skiers annually. Visitors can reach it via the cableway which links the 1,100 metre altitude of Monte Cerreto to the ski resort of Campo Imperatore at a height of 2,200 metres.
