The architect Vincenzo Imperiale constructed the Villa Imperiali Scassi between 1560 and 1563 at Sampierdarena. This was once the Genovese aristocracy’s favourite site for building country residences; the villa is actually now a school. It has a large garden behind it which has been transformed into a public park beyond the new Via Cantore. The pleasant frescoes in the interior are the of G. Carlone and B. Castello, and stucco work is by M. Sparzo, who decorated the 16th Century Chiesa di S.Pietro in Banchi at around the same time.
