The Villa Giustiniani Cambiaso was constructed for Lucas Giustiniani in the middle of the 16th Century. It has a square shape which dominates its surroundings and was considered to be the prototype for another dominating structure - the Alessian Villa (Galeazzo Alessi, a Perugian architect, left his mark in much work in Genoa, both of public and religious buildings). The Villa Giustiniani Cambiaso, today home to the University Department of Engineering, is surrounded by a garden.
