Villa Cagnola in Gazzada was built by the Peraḅ family. At the end of the 14th Century, the villa belonged to the aristocratic Cagnola family, who had it restored by the architect Chierichetti. It was furnished with items from Milan and Pavia palaces, and became a museum. The ceramic collection is particularly interesting as is the collection of 14th and 15th Century Tuscany paintings. There are also pictures which date from the 18th Century. In 1946 Villa Cagnola was donated to the Institute of Religious Studies and the Ambrosiana Paolo VI Foundation. The site has a splendid view over Lake Varese.
