The Via San Romano has much to see, being an ancient road that was the main link between the market square (currently Piazza Trento e Trieste) and the port that was situated at the present via Ripagrande. Today, popular with tourists, it is one of the busiest and commercial streets and has several interesting houses with porticoes. At the top there is the remarkable former church of San Romano from the 10th to 15th centuries that is flanked by a fine cloister with marble columns.
