The St. Maria Nuova church was built in the 13th Century. The façade is in a simple design but the interior has some fine frescoes including ‘La Madonna del Belvedere’ by Ottaviano Nelli, painted in 1413. Nelli was an advocate of the Gubbio School and said to be the best artist in Umbria and Marche in the first half of 15th Century. The painter who holds a similar accolade for the 14th Century is Guido Palmerucci, and several of his works can be seen here.
