Santa Maria Maddalena was constructed during the 10th Century, but in 1480 the church became a Commendam. In 1572 Pope Gregory XIII eliminated the canonships in the church and founded the Parish with its rights following the example of the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament. Towards the end of the 16th Century the church was enlarged, with the rebuilding commissioned to Andrea Ceresola, also known as ‘Vannone’, who completed the work by adding a porch supported by marble columns in front of the church.
