Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral church of Florence. Built with public funding, it houses some impressive works of art including Dante and the Divine Comedy by Domenico di Michelino from 1465. The cathedral’s neo-Gothic façade is dedicated to the Mother of Christ and three massive bronze doors have decorations depicting the Madonna. The legendary dome, completed in 1436, contains over 4 million bricks; created by Brunelleschi - this Renaissance masterpiece, is entirely self-supporting with frescoes inside the dome depicting the Last Judgement.
