San Valentino Hermitage sits at 772 m above sea level overlooking Lake Garda. It can be reached on foot from the nearby village of Sasso. The little mid 17th Century church was built as a votive offering for protection from the plague of 1630 and has recently undergone some restoration. The original structure’s inner walls are of the 15th Century and stand directly against the rocks. In the past San Valentino Hermitage has housed various hermits - the last occupant being Andrea Paladini, who died in 1865.
