The church of San Pietro di Annifo was first recorded in the statutes of Foligno in 1350. This was when the castle of San Pietro di Annifo, with an interior church dedicated to the saint, was mentioned. An excellent fresco showing St Anne pregnant with Mary is below the altar and dates back to the late 15th or early 16th Century. Another depicts Mary pregnant with Jesus, who is shown holding the world in his hands. Each year there is a pilgrimage to this sanctuary on 29 June, which is the feast day of St Peter and St Paul.
