The church of San Miniato al Monte is one of the city’s striking examples of Florentine Romanesque architecture, characterized by the two-coloured marble façade (green and white). Halfway along the nave on the left is a chapel, the ’Cappella del cardinale Portogallo’, which was designed by one of Brunelleschi’s pupils, its decorative style is similar to one of Brunelleschi’s first creations, the ’Sagrestia Vecchia’, which can still be seen in the San Lorenzo church. Inside, the altar, pulpit and transept recess feature wonderful marble and the decorated floor is in keeping with the church’s Romanesque style.
