San Giacomo Church is situated on the beach 2 km north of Gargnano. It is surrounded by citrus groves and is one of the oldest Christian churches on Lake Garda. There are frescoes here from the 13th Century which decorates the façade including one depicting Saint Christopher, patron saint of travellers. It has a fine Romanesque chapel and an altar dedicated to St James the Greater, with a wooden statue of him, dating back to 1501. The door and the two square windows are 16th Century and were installed on the occasion of St. Charles Borromeo’s Apostolic Visit in 1580.
