The presence of the church of Ortodossa Russa shows the cosmopolitan period in Florence, perhaps from the beginning of the 20th Century. Two architects Preobrashenskij and Boccini are responsible for the design, which is a square plan with polychrome domes. It was designed in 1902 to a style of the Byzantine orthodox tradition. The interior is richly decorated with icons and artwork by the artist Lolli. The holy liturgy is orthodox and is in the Russian language.
