The Porta Siberia is an ancient gate in Doric style built by Antonio Roderio to plans designed by Galeazzo Alessi in 1553. It completed the walls that closed the city away from the sea, and is an extraordinary example of military architecture. The name ‘Siberia’ comes from the term ‘Cibaria’. The gate stands near former grain warehouses, which replenished ships in the port and also completed the walls that closed of the port from the sea.
