Around the beginning of the 15th Century Cardinal Tolomeo had the Palazzo Gallio constructed on the site of an old castle in Gravedona. The palazzo became known as Gallio’s ‘Villa of Delight’, because of the opulence of the exterior. It is possible to visit the villa, but only during normal office hours and has to be requested in advance. Today Palazzo Gallio is the home of the local council; they are extremely proud of this beautiful building and are only too willing to show visitors around.
