The Palazzo Doria Spinola can be found on the corner of Via Roma and St Catherine’s hill. It was constructed for the Admiral Antonio Doria, cousin of Andrea, between 1541 and 1543 and attributed to a design by B Cantone and G. B. Castello. The Calvi School painted the frescoed façade around the 16th Century, unfortunately now barely visible. A visit to the split level courtyard is a must: it is one of the best examples of 16th Century Genovese architecture, frescoed with the plans of the major cities of the time.
