The splendid Palazzo della Nuova Borsa was constructed in the early 20th Century from a design by architect D. Carbone. It was erected as a substitute for the Loggia dei Banchi on the previous site of the building. The Palazzo kept its original function as the Genovese stock exchange until 1998 and was the oldest of its kind in the whole of Italy. The fine elliptical trading room, with its adorned sky light, is worth seeing, as are the groups of sculptures outside, and the picturesque domes on the top.
