Palazzo Comunale, originally a 12th Century palace, was devastated by an earthquake in 1751. It was rebuilt in its current form around the 18th Century as the style of building shows. Unfortunately most but not all of the medieval buildings surrounding it were destroyed by the earthquake, losing a rich heritage of Roman antiquity. But this is still a place of exceptional beauty with many existing ancient buildings to admire, for their simplistic styles and adornments.
