The Opera Municipal Theatre was built on the site of an ancient convent. The idea was to provide Genoa with an even more impressive theatre than the two that already existed. It was named after the Savoy King, Carlo Felice. The theatre opened in 1828 staging a play called Bianca e Fernando by Vincenzo Bellini. It was designed by Barbino and is constructed in a neoclassic style, imposing and elegant at the same time. The three entrance doors were named Music, Comedy and Tragedy.
