To the South of Golasecca, through a beautiful wooded walk, you reach the necropolis at Monsorino. There is evidence here of a sacred burial cult as, in 1965, rounded gates, fashioned by large stones, were discovered. The graves contained tombs with cinerary urns decorated like those of a northern Italian civilisation. The excavations showed that the inhabitants of Golasecca used sand holes with stones at the end comprising small river cobbles near the urn on which often there was a crown cover, or a box where the bottom and sides were lined in a slate of gneiss.
