The Museo della Carta is housed in the small Piccardo paper mill which dates back to 1756 and sited in Acquasanta - a few kilometres from Voltri. The interesting little museum charts various techniques for paper making in Val Leira. This was the principal place for Genoese paper making from the 16th Century and in 1850 there were some 150 paper makers working in this area. The museum exhibits original paper making machinery and equipment, much of which remained in use here until 1985, as well as watermarks. Admission is free.
