The Monastero del Corpus Domini founded in 1406, is sited in the oldest part of the city in the centre of a maze of narrow streets. This is the city’s smartest medieval area and just a stones throw from the church of Saint Francesco and a former palace home of the Este family. The cloistered convent of Clarissa nuns holds many heirlooms of Saint Catherine Vegri, a lady of noble origins. In the nuns’ choir lie the remains of Eleonora d’Aragona, Alfonso I, Ercole II, Alfonso II, and the famous Lucrezia Borgia was devoted to this place during her life.
