Andrea Ceresola, nicknamed Vannone, and G. Donzello, built Saint Peter’s Loggia between 1589 and 1595, in the trade centre of the old city. The Fathers of Municipality who were administrators to the city, commissioned the building from plans created for Piazza dei Banchi. Given over to the Chamber of Commerce around 1839 and it was restored by G.B. Resasco and enclosed by glass window vaults. It became the home of the Italian Stock Exchange in 1855, but was bombed and the cover destroyed during the war. Restoration took place in 1950 and reopened to become a place for cultural activities.
