The architect Parigi originally planned the Loggia del Grano around 1619 under the patronage of Grand Duke Cosimo II as a market for grain and various other cereals. The stores were to be kept in the vaulted roof with the market below. Today the Loggia del Grano is the place where you will find stalls with art and craft products from countries such as Senegal, Mali and India. However it still has the front of a cinema long since closed, but before it became a cinema the building was used as a theatre commissioned by Tommaso Salvini.
